| Awards We initially started out recognizing the works of authors and writers with periodic awards. We have since gone on to consider all forms of creative arts, including visual arts (paintings, pottery, etc), music, voice, and performance arts. The history of our literary awards: The American Author Medal was first introduced in 2005 and represents our highest award for exemplary talent in the written word. This award is not necessarily presented annually, rather reserved for those works truly deserving. From our inception through 2006, we used a level system with gold medal, silver medal and the distinguished honors medal categories. In 2007, we re-titled our awards to better represent the literary genre. The medal awards have been replaced by the Golden Quill and Silver Quill awards. Each year we recognize members' works that demonstrate excellence in their field. To have your work considered please contact us for details. 2009 Golden Quill Awards
