Title:  Return Fire

Author:  Barry W. Ozeroff

Publisher:  iBooks

Charged with adrenaline, Return Fire is a high-speed Police Thriller that never lets you off the edge of your seat.

Ben Geller is a police sniper, assigned to the Special Emergency Response Team in Stratton, Oregon. When his team is called to a hostage situation on Christmas Eve, the situation is tense, but the hostage negotiators seem to have things well in hand.

Without warning, the suspect is gunned down by a perfect sniper shot to the head. The bullet is a .308 caliber, the same kind fired by Benís rifle. Thereís only one problemÖ Ben hasnít fired a shot, and neither has the backup sniper assigned to his team. The shot came from someone outside the team: an expert sniper whoís perfectly willing to commit murder just to get Benís attention.

The unknown killer is called the Shadow, and he is stalking Ben. More importantly, he is threatening Benís family. He knows the familyís movements in intimate detail; he somehow manages to photograph Benís wife, daughter, and foster son in their own beds and even in the bathroom. He makes it clear that he can reach out and kill the people Ben loves, and he makes it equally clear that he has reason to do just that.

Why is the Shadow fixated on Ben Geller? The secret must lie in the past. Maybe itís something having to do with the suicide of the crooked cop who was Benís first partner, or with the female officer who once shared Benís bed and doesnít want to let him go. Maybe itís something else altogether. All he knows for certain is that people are dying, and the maniac behind it all has him square in the crosshairs.

Ben is a good cop, but he has made mistakes, and some of them are coming back to haunt him. And in his haste to track down the Shadow and bury the past, he has overlooked one very important fact. His wife has secrets too.

Equal parts mystery and action thriller, Return Fire is page-turning fiction at its very best.
