War and Patriotic Prose from a Korean War Veteran

“Dry Tears” by David Baillie, is one of those interesting small volumes of prose that represents the voice of the old warrior.  In this case, Baillie is a Korean War veteran but he does not restrict his prose to just that “forgotten war.’ He covers many other patriotic themes and issues and gives the reader a large landscape of emotions. His book does include a small collection of prose from other veterans although the vast majority of the book belongs to David’s creative works.

It is full of macho and soldier talk and battles and wars from long ago and now. The poet cuts straight through to the meat and the heart of the issues. He does not leave you guessing as to how he feels about something. One poem in particular may be his best in the book called “Frozen.”  It is no doubt from old memories of the war he fought.

If you are looking for some manly no frills poetry and prose then this is your book. David Baillie writes from his heart and it shows.
