Title: After The Republic Author: Joe L. Blevins Publisher: Xlibris Reviewer: Marilyn Meredith – AAA member For anyone who loves history written with personal details, After the Republic is the book for you. The book begins March 24, 1846 in Texas right after it became a state. Author Joe L. Blevins has done a great job separating fact out of fiction–the fiction that we often read in history books. What I liked the best was the perspective of the Indians that is depicted throughout the tale, showing them in a totally different manner than what we find in most history books either fact or fiction. We learn a lot about the famous characters in history–but more important, we’re given real insight to what was going on with the real people at the time–how they thought and felt and were affected about all that happened. The author depicts how they lived from day-to-day, what they ate, who they interacted with, and how they worshiped. Excellent book for both adults and young people. Recommended.
